Hah, 'tis true... those you'd-have-to-be-a-total-idiot-with-two-black-thumbs-to-kill-me kind of plants are sneaky. After about 11 years of planting squash, last year I miiight have harvested two. Powdery mildew or some such fiendish disease caught them. I guess every gardener has their days. (Or years... or planting seasons rather.) Needless to say I quite missed my fried squash. *Tear*

I so love your "FLOPS" posts. They make me realize I am not alone in the disasters at my house. My corn never came up...my watermelons never got above baseball size..well except for one..and it really had no meat, my zuchini fizzled. Who in the world cannot grow zuchini? That is a no fail veggie!
We only had one out of 10 okras come up and half of my tomato plants did not produce a single tomato. Oh, and my cucumber plnats? How did they do? POOORLY! Only two deformed cukes!
I am sorry about your bean teepee. Our beans never grew more than a foot before they croaked...but I think that had to do with the city spraying RoundUp on the street cracks on a windy day. Imagine that...lol.
