Cutest Garden I Ever Saw…

I had the pleasure of taking care of my friend’s first garden while she was out of town.  When I walked into her back yard, I was bowled over with the cuteness!!!

This is her herb garden.

Here’s some little dill…

Here’s some little thai peppers…

I’m totally jealous.  And that has nothing to do with why my bad children lost her painted river rock that read “Clarity.”  How can you lose a baseball sized rock in such a tidy backyard?  My kids can  do the impossible.

And this is her to-die-for adorable veggie garden…

And here’s the cat.  He was very lonely.

kittyI pet a cat for the first time in 20 years, I think, just cause I felt bad for him.  (I’m wicked allergic to cats.)  But, he’s such a pretty kitty, no?

Oh this is too cute! This is exactly how I want my garden to look, but it’s definitely not there yet. Kuddos to you for loving on the kitty despite your allergy, they do get pretty lonesome when left.

I love it! The pots on top of the rocks look like such an easy way to keep everything tidy or a good way to deal with a problem drainage area. I wish my gardens looked as neat!

Hi Ivory,

I’m not very computer savvy so maybe you can help me with something. I cannot see any of your pictures. The only thing is a little box with a red “x” in the upper left-hand corner of the field where the pics should be. What do I have to do so that I may see them?

Ooh, got it now. Thanks!

It must just be me, but the only photo I can see is the one of the cat. He is a very cute fellow, alright. But the others are showing up as “PICT0023″, “PICT0026″, etc. If they clicked through to pictures, that would be pretty sweet too, but I can’t get it to do anything, and the description is so lovely that it’s making me crazy!

Oh, there it is! I linked from my email, and no pictures. I hit the “home” button on top and all the pictures are there. And it IS cute!

I’m so disappointed. I really want to see these pictures. The only one I can see is the cat. Help me please!

@ all who have picture trouble…I think I fixed it. All my posts for the next two weeks had this problem. Tell me if you see it again, please.

@Rowena–I KNOW! Can you believe it’s her first? I”m shocked. Mine have NEVER been that cute.

@Emily–I wish ANY part of my life looked that neat.

@Kelsey–I had to take a shower when I got home cause the sneezies and whelps had already started, but I think he really appreciated it.

My plants are getting to the point where my cucumbers and peas are probably going to need something to climb on- what would you suggest putting in there to let them climb? I have two rows of each (cuc, beans, & black eye peas) and I also have a few squash- in a raised bed, do you put something for them to climb up as well?

I love the pebbles idea, too. And yeah, I agree. Your friend’s garden is pretty neat for a first-timer. Imagine how good she’s going to be after a few years and she’ll get a lot more experience with gardening and with landscape garden design.

@landscape–She’s a genius, that friend o mine.

@Heather—Squash won’t really climb. You have to stake and tie it like tomatoes. I’ve heard that pumpkin might, though. Anyway, if I had full rows of climbers, I’d put 6ft stakes in deep on the outside of the box and run some kind of strong wire fencing between.

Heather, I tried an idea I saw in another site, try using the wire tomato cages that you buy at walmart or kmart and place over the squash plants. I am trying this for the first time this year and it seems to be working although I have had to stake the cages since the squash plants got so big. Feel free to look at the pics I have on my blog to get an idea. Hope this will help.
Ivory, I agree that is a very cute garden! Love your pics.

Hey, stopped over from sits, and just can’t seem to get enough of your blog! so many good ideas! Ok, so, we are moving next week to the Appalachian Mountains, where we plan on becoming as self-reliant as possible…I have never had a garden, but really want to, so this is encouraging, it looks great! Ok, this might be a really stupid question, and if so, Oh well…but, what is the point of having the grid of strings? How and why does this help? Thanks…

Oops, I said I stopped over from SITS, but I don’t think I did…I’m not sure how I found your blog, but I’m glad I did…I’ll be following you in google reader :)
