It’s a Giveaway!

Thank you for visiting Little House in the Suburbs. If you like what you see, please SUBSCRIBE.

This week, our giveaway is a hanging dehydrator from Homesteader’s Supply.  I’ve spent a lot of time on the phone with Jerri Bedell, one of the two owners, and lemme tell ya, if you want to learn how to adapt commercial farm gadgets to your mini home-farm, she’s a good friend to have.  When you buy from Homesteader’s Supply, you get access to personal customer service with next-door-neighbor-over-coffee kind of conversation.  Whether its making your first batch of yogurt or fitting a cow with a kick guard, she’s the gal to call.

So, to get in on this giveaway, go over to their site and poke around, then comment on this post–telling us your top wishlist item from Homesteader’s Supply. Giveaway ends at 6AM Saturday, September 3rd.

I LOVED Homesteader’s Supply! What a great resource. My wishlist item is the Fruit & Wine Press. In fact, I think I will be ordering it. So happy to have found this site!

Top wishlist item? wow! They have so many great things that I would love. Let’s see… guess I’d choose the compost tumbler.

Oat Bucket Farm September 2, 2011 at 9:22 am

I have to pick just ONE thing? Wow. there are so many things I want on that site I could spend all day making a list. If I ever win the lottery… Well, until then, if I had to choose just one thing, it would be a dehydrator. Husband and I both want one. Though I wouldn’t mind some of the cheese making supplies, or the meat processing stuff, or…

What a wonderful site! I particularly love the Heron in the Mirror. It reminds me of my time in Japan.

Deanna Collins September 2, 2011 at 9:41 am

Wow! So many things to choose from. I am doing all I can to be prepared while trying to survive on Social “In”Security. So I am quite limited in what I can do. My main goal is to be as prepared as possible for not having electricity. So I truly would like the hand grinder as well as this sweet little hanging dehydrator! Thanks for a chance to win one.

Solar panels into which you plug your fans/rechargers/etc. (no central air or heat, but sunroom windows perfect for the panels!)
-or- Freezer for stocking up on farmers’ market staples over the winter.

Since the freezer is a lot more expensive, I guess that’d be my dream item…could probably cough up the $65 for the solar panel, if I hit the jackpot and a freezer dropped from the sky into my lap!

Thanks for sharing this site…what a great resource!

What a great site! I’ve found two of the items in the upper levels of my “need to do” list on their site: yogurt culture (need a new source) and apple peeler (old one broke). But “wishlists” are different from “need to do” lists. I think I’m going to be asking Santa for a new pressure canner this year. That would be the top item in my “wishlist”. 😉 Thanks for introducing us to such a wonderful resource!

Picking one top thing is so hard! I’ve been interested in cheese making lately so I’d have to go with the Cheese Making Kit- Supreme. But the rain barrels are also mighty tempting!

alisha September 2, 2011 at 10:23 am

If I had the money I would get one of the 2.5 gallon fermenting crock. 2nd choice would be the dehydrator that is in the giveaway because it has been on my wish list for a while and it would get a lot of use.

Meagan September 2, 2011 at 10:31 am

I’d get a Nutrimill grain mill.

Jessie September 2, 2011 at 11:05 am

The 23 quart pressure cooker – that’s just awesome! 🙂 Thanks for holding this giveaway!

theresa kelsey September 2, 2011 at 11:05 am

What a great site! Thanks for sharing it. I love the hanging dehydrator. The idea of not needing electricity is fantastic. I like the solar lighting idea and would love to try the cheese maker! We live in Idaho and being self sufficient is a must in the winter months, especially.

Kris September 2, 2011 at 11:06 am

I had fun looking through the site and found lots I “need!” I’ve recently been putting together an emergency kit and think the hand crank light/radio should definitely be in there! Thanks for introducing me to the site.

Kay September 2, 2011 at 11:26 am

Love that site! Here goes:
Deluxe meat grinder/mincer and pasta maker
Either the Victorio or Squeezo strainer and sauce maker
Stainless steel food mill

Wow! I could spend a lot of time and money on this site. Love it! I think I would choose the 23 qt pressure canner, since I don’t have one yet 🙂

bunkie September 2, 2011 at 12:08 pm

CurlysQuilts September 2, 2011 at 12:10 pm

I’m totally in love with the beginner cheesemaker’s set, both for the soft cheeses and the mozarellas. Mmm…I can taste them now….

Kay September 2, 2011 at 12:45 pm

so many choices I don’t know what to list first! I’m interested in making my own yogurt, but I started a compost pile, so I have needs there. hm- guess I will start that Santa list from this site! Thanks!

Patty September 2, 2011 at 1:27 pm

The Wonder Grain Mill would be handy. So many things to choose from…

MamaShea September 2, 2011 at 2:45 pm

WOW! I am so impressed by the Homesteader Supply, and it usually takes a lot to impress me. As far as a wish list, I thiink mine has grown about a mile longer now that you’ve introduced me to HS. My husband thanks you for that, by the way. My ultimate #1 item right now though would have to be the SunDanzer DC Freezer – 5.8 Cu Ft. A great break from relying on ‘the GRID’!

Marthalynn September 2, 2011 at 3:12 pm

Thank you for turning me on to this site! What a fantastic resource. I am trying my hand at Kefir, so I’m delighted to see that they have lots of products to help with that. I think if I could pick anything from the site, though, it would be the bamboo towels. Those are definitely going on my wish list!

Linda Knapp September 2, 2011 at 4:49 pm

My top wishlist item would have to be the 23 quart pressure canner. I’ve wanted one for so long!

Pauline September 2, 2011 at 5:45 pm

OK- too many great things! Should we go with most expensive? Or most practical? I was going to say the solar panels and telling my City Building Dept. where to go. Can you believe a town of 55,000 that won’t allow panels because they don’t have a permit form for that? May have something to do with them owning the electric company! The most practical for me right now may be “The Renewable Energy Handbook”. I’d like to see someone who has actually build a renewable house.

Caitlin September 2, 2011 at 6:05 pm

Top of my wishlist is the backyard greenhouse. So much other great stuff, though! Thanks for sharing the site!

Ann September 2, 2011 at 6:18 pm

I could never pick just one item for a wish list. But I have definitely found a new favorite website. The Tribest Wolfgang Electric Flour Mill would be a finalist.

jeanette September 2, 2011 at 7:35 pm

I think my top thing would be this dehydrator! I have been mulling over how to make something like this myself…so this would be awesome to have! maybe next paycheck…

Herbi September 2, 2011 at 8:28 pm

I would totally pick the WonderMill. My sister has been making me jealous for years with her grain products-would love to do it myself for a change. I know two of my kids would find that pretty cool too.

Thrilled to become acquainted with Homesteader’s Supply-thank you!

Maya September 2, 2011 at 9:43 pm

I loved the garden watch camera! What an amazing idea!

Amy September 2, 2011 at 11:13 pm

The cheese making supreme kit would be at the top of my list.

Sherry Grant September 3, 2011 at 1:57 am

Complete portable Milking machine set up is my biggest wishlist for my dear hubby who is milking by hand. It’s his top wish list item too!

Ella September 3, 2011 at 12:38 pm

Excalibur 9 Tray Food Dehydrator – Black is on my #2 list and fermenting crocks are my #2..
