I love this book.

This book has the potential to change a child’s and a family’s life, for the better, forever.

Stacy Tornio and Ken Keffer have assembled, in checklist form, a sort of bucket list of outdoor activities.  It’s an inspired idea, and the execution is spot on.  They’ve organized the adventures by season, and scaled each activity from 1-5.  A 1 activity can be something like making a wish on a dandelion, while an example of a 5 is taking a picture from the top of a mountain.  In between are listening to the howl of a wolf and taking a hike by the full moon.

Beware: letting a child of reading age have this book will force you to tear yourself away from Pinterest a whole lot more than you may be prepared for.  Serious dedication to crossing off the majority of this book’s suggestions would likely revolutionize your family’s life.

BUT: You can also simply use it for occasional inspiration, of course. It’s not a book that makes you feel bad about the fact that you’ve never gone geocaching.

But if you’ve a mind to, there’s a checkbox for that.

Plus, projects, recipes, special destinations, and outdoor games.  This book is a labor of love from these authors to kids and families everywhere.

Go to the authors’ website here for a chance to win a copy of the book (and more).  If you don’t want to take your chances, you can order the book here.
