If you’re like me, watching your kids DUMP real maple syrup on their pancakes is like watching them flush gold down the toilet. That stuff is SO expensive! BUT, I also can’t stand to feed them that maple-flavored-high-fructose-corn-syrup JUNK at the store. So, I now make my own maple-flavored natural sugar syrup.
Homemade “Maple” Syrup
2 cups organic sugar
1/2 TBSP molasses
1 cup water
1/2 tsp maple flavoring
1. Heat sugar and water over medium. Boil until slightly thickened.
2. Remove from heat and add maple flavoring.
3. Cool.
2. Remove from heat and add maple flavoring.
3. Cool.
Oh, and while it’s cooling, dip buttered bread in it….
…ya know, just to make sure it came out okay. 😉

It was my pleasure. You are very talented.
I am amazed, too, by the vast amount of information at my fingertips online. It can be a bit overwhelming.
Hope you visit again soon.
I love the dishcloth in the photos. What knitting GENIUS provided you with that?
Well, her name starts with Tomato.
Grew up on this “maple syrup”. Living on a farm up in the mountains of North Carolina with a couple of “city slicker” parents – this was what we used for our pancakes and waffles. The only difference was did not add molasses – molasses was used by itself as well as honey. My dad would help a neighbor with robbing bees and making molasses and we got “shares”. Love your website.
