I’m so glad to see that someone else makes plain French toast without all the sugary stuff in/on it. My favorite is with unsweetened applesauce, which yours appears to have on. I love the eggy custardy inside of French toast when I let the bread sit in the egg mixture for several minutes and it soaks up lots of goodness! And thank you, beautiful Mrs. Hen, for your lovely contribution! I like these pics.

What a beautiful hen! What breed(s) of chickens do you raise? We’re toying with the idea of adding three layers to our little house. Any recommendations on helping us research and plan the chicken project would be appreciated.
Edie–Thank you! She’s a Buff Orpington. Very docile and sweet. We also have Black Australorps (more assertive than the Buffs, no nonsense-type chickens) and Easter Eggers (pretty, cautious, lay green/blue eggs, sweet and independent). All are very good layers. Deanna loves her Red Stars. Also good layers and good with the kids. See backyardchickens.com and mypetchicken.com for lots of info and forums for all your questions. We also have a “chicken chapter” in our book :-).
I just found your website and I’m in love!! I ordered our first set of “backyard” hens to be delievered in a couple of weeks. I am beyond excited and a little nervous. We also tend to a large garden every spring and summer. So glad I found you!
What great pictures! The weather has been great and very “Spring-y” here the last week or two, so I have enjoyed working out in the yard. Haven’t been able to plant anything quite yet because our Colorado springs are rather unpredictable, but I hope to have some red beets, peas, and radishes planted by about the first of April.

Jessica–Welcome! You’re going to love having chickens–I was nervous, too, but it turned out to be easier than I thought.
